The Japanese American tradition of youth baseball lives on with the Berkeley Bears and other teams playing in the Golden Gate Optimist League. For over 40 years, the Berkeley Bears have continued to provide a safe place for children to learn basic baseball skills, teamwork, camaraderie, and the value of friendly competition.
The Bears have at least three generations of players, and some of their father/coaches wore a Bears uniform in their younger days. Baseball for the Berkeley Bears will be what it has been for over four decades, a place for parents and children to have some fun in the sun.
Sign up, play baseball, and have fun with the Berkeley Bears!
Practices are every Saturday, starting in March, and will be held at San Pablo Park in Berkeley. Games are played on Sundays, beginning in April, at various East Bay and San Francisco locations. The season ends the first weekend of June.
We’re taking registrations up to the first practices in March!
