The BPC Diversity Committee is excited to welcome Judy Appel, Executive Director of Our Family Coalition (and a BPC Parent). Judy will guide us through a series of conversations centered on issues of gender and sexuality important to our school community, including emergent sexuality, gender identity, and how we can support young people coming out and expressing their identities. Often we, as parents, are at a loss as to how to talk to our children about gender and sexuality- our own, their own, and that of others around us. Through a set of activities, Judy will introduce us to a lexicon we can use to begin these complex conversations with our children.
Judy's visit and the other upcoming Diversity Committee events reflect Black Pine Circle's commitment to an inclusive community. This year, the Diversity Committee has chosen to focus on LGBTQ issues and sexuality in general as a guiding theme. We are lucky to have one of the leaders in this community within our midst!
