Dear Tehiyah Parent (and friends),Your child is at a distinct stage in development – a “tween” -- a child in the stage between childhood and adolescence. This stage brings with it new joys and new challenges, as has every stage so far! As your child matures, new parenting skills may need to come into play to best meet his/her developmental needs within structured limits.
Please join me in a discussion of what to expect from your Tween at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, November 7, in Room 15. Learn about this distinct age group, what’s going on in tweens’ minds and bodies, what they may do differently, and how to best respond to some of the new challenges you may face. Take this opportunity to learn something new and ask questions.
Apart from being Head of School, I am also a licensed clinical social worker with more than 30 years experience working with children and adolescents. I have run many parenting groups, lectured at the university level for 10 years about child development, and has run workshops on adolescence and parenting locally, nationally, and internationally.I would love to see many of you there, and hope that this meeting fits into your busy schedules. If you can join me, please be sure to RSVP to Tammy Aguiniga-Garretson at tgarretson@tehiyah.org.I would also like to extend this invitation to any of your friends with children approximately the same age as your tween. Please keep this in mind if you are at your child’s sporting events or classes in the coming weeks, and invite them to join us for this discussion, pointing out that they also must RSVP. I’ve attached a flier if you would like to give it to anyone outside of our community.L’Shalom,Bathea-----Bathea JamesHead of SchoolTehiyah Day School2603 Tassajara Avenue
